Kuala Lumpur is a city that runs on cars literally. Whether it’s crawling along Jalan Tun Razak at 8am or cruising slowly through Bukit Bintang on a Saturday night, cars are part of our everyday life here. Yet strangely enough, our favourite wheels aren’t always chosen because they’re the fastest, most luxurious or most high-tech. Often, they’re loved for reasons that make no logical sense at all, especially in KL.
Proton Wira : The Nostalgic King

The Proton Wira has been part of Malaysian streets (and my second car) for decades and, despite being an older car, it refuses to disappear. From family sedans to taxis, you’ll spot Wiras in every corner of the city.
It’s not the most modern car, it’s not flashy, and it definitely doesn’t have the gadgets that new cars boast but KL drivers still have a soft spot for it. Some say it’s because of memories tied to the car (first car, first road trip, first parking chaos), and others simply admire how these humble sedans just keep going.
Perodua Myvi : The King of the Road

Then there’s the Perodua Myvi, often jokingly called the “King of the Road” in Malaysia. In KL, seeing Myvis everywhere isn’t surprising, they’re everywhere from Mont Kiara condos to Cheras traffic.
Why do we love it so much? It’s small, practical, and easy to park (which is a blessing in tight KL spots!). Yet it continues to be a favourite, not just for young drivers, but for families and commuters alike.
Why We Love Cars That Make No Sense

In Kuala Lumpur, cars aren’t just transportation, they’re memory makers and personal spaces. They’re where we sing loudly, eat lunch in peace, and prepare ourselves mentally before stepping into meetings.
We choose cars not because they’re perfect, but because they fit our lives. And in a city like KL, that’s something worth celebrating.
