BMW Leads the Charge on TikTok but Audi TT is the Most Popular Model

TikTok has taken the world by storm, more so during the pandemic. It is said that as of February 2021, the social media platform has 1.1 billion active monthly users and was the most downloaded app in 2020. It is not surprising that automakers have jumped on the bandwagon to engage with communities, boost their brand awareness and ultimately drive up sales.

For example, to promote their role at the forefront of e-racing whilst releasing their innovative race car, the BMW iFE2.0, BMW Motorsport partnered with TikTok to reach the young Gen Z and Millennials across Germany.

The BMW M4 is the German automaker’s most viewed model with 1.3 billion views.

This one video alone has over 17 million views:

Vietnamese automaker, Vinfast, has engaged TikTok to promote its e-scooters. Kia too has worked with TikTok to launch its SUV, Seltos.

However, amongst all the automakers, BMW stands head and shoulders above the rest with 22 billion views of its related hashtags, posts and videos as of June 15, 2021. This is according to data gathered by the Dick Lovett Group, a renowned UK dealer, which tabulated the number of views of videos using hashtags mentioning each car and brand on TikTok (as of 15 June 2021).

Audi and Jaguar had 9 and 6 billion views respectively in the list that included other companies like Porsche, Ferrari, Land Rover, MINI and Aston Martin, to name a few.

However, the Audi TT is the most viewed model with 5.5 billion views or about 61% of the overall total views garnered by Audi.

Companies know that social media platforms are a great opportunity to engage with fans and consumers, and it seems like BMW is not going to let go of its top spot without a fight.
