Testing X1R Octane Booster on a Long-Distance Drive With My Proton X70.

If you are someone who frequently drives long distances, whether for balik kampung trips or road travels, you probably understand the reality of high fuel consumption. You start the journey with a full tank in Kuala Lumpur, feeling excited and confident, pressing the accelerator harder on open roads and switching to Sport Mode whenever overtaking slower vehicles. But before you can even relax and enjoy the drive, it is already time to stop for another fuel refill.
This situation was something I constantly experienced with my Proton X70. My SUV is already more than five years old, and as many drivers know, older vehicles usually consume more fuel compared to newer models. On top of that, my driving style is far from fuel-saving. I tend to drive aggressively during long-distance journeys, especially when using Sport Mode on highways and hilly roads.
For reference, the Proton X70 comes with a fuel tank capacity of around 60 litres. In theory, the SUV is capable of achieving over 400km on a full tank under ideal and economical driving conditions. However, real-world mileage depends heavily on factors such as driving habits, road conditions, traffic congestion, passenger load, and frequent acceleration. In my case, with a rather “heavy foot,” the actual mileage was significantly lower.
My usual route is Kuala Lumpur–Karak–Mempaga–CSR–Gua Musang. Previously, my routine was simple: fill up the tank in Kuala Lumpur and expect to refuel again once I reached Gua Musang. Considering that I already needed to top up fuel after approximately 260km, it clearly showed how high the fuel consumption was.

Recently, however, I had the opportunity to try X1R Octane Booster before making the same journey. I followed the exact same driving style as before, which maintaining similar speeds, driving aggressively, and still using Sport Mode while overtaking heavy vehicles along the CSR and Gua Musang roads.
What surprised me the most was the improvement in fuel mileage. Instead of refueling at Gua Musang, I was able to continue driving all the way to Kuala Krai, which added approximately another 120km to my journey. In some situations, I even managed to reach Machang before needing to refuel.

Overall, my estimated mileage improved from around 260km to approximately 370km on a full tank, which is more than 30% increase! For a larger SUV driven aggressively with heavy loads and frequent Sport Mode usage, that difference felt very significant. Besides the additional mileage, the vehicle also felt smoother during acceleration, especially when overtaking long trucks on uphill roads between Gua Musang and Kuala Krai.
Based on my personal experience, X1R Octane Booster did provide noticeable improvements in fuel efficiency and driving performance, even for an older SUV like mine.
