“ANU” Plate Number Series Results in RM2.36mil For JPJ

ANU

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been known to release special number plate series that fetch high prices during bidding. One such series “ANU” has fetched a whopping RM2.36 million in total.

There were 1,768 bidders for the ANU series on the JPJeBid platform over a 5-day period.

Furthermore, 3,794 plate registration numbers out of 10,000 under the “ANU” plate number series were sold during the period.

Out of the 3,794 plate numbers sold, the highest bid was recorded for “ANU 1”, at RM269,000.

The popularity of the series is a little confusing once you realise that ANU is slang in Bahasa Melayu which is an euphemism for the male private part.

We’ve all heard that saying, the bigger the car, the smaller the… ahem. Well what does it say about the driver of a car with this number plate costing RM269,000?

That said, “ANU” is far from being the most popular Perak plate number series or the Perak plate number series with the highest revenue for JPJ.

That honour goes to the “AMG” plate number series with over RM6 million, as many Mercedes-AMG luxury car owners bought registration numbers under that series.

We wonder what the department does with all that cash. And is there a department that thinks of unique series from time to time for them to hit their yearly KPIs?
