The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 was the “first car” of choice in India before the French came along and offered the Renault Kwid to the country’s growing middle class. New car owners are cost-conscious, of course, but price isn’t an issue when comparing the two because the standard variants are almost similarly priced – the Kwid is selling for ₹2.62 lakh (approx. US$3,900) and the Alto 800 is priced at ₹2.49 lakh (approx. US$3,700).
The only time we associate James Corden with cars is when the late night host drives a singer (or singers) around in his SUV for some entertaining Car Pool Karaoke. But new Top Gear host, Matt LeBlanc, takes Corden on in a fun and friendly race, which they called Bottom Gear.
The next and supposedly best ever version of Gran Tourismo is just around the corner and the wait is killing at least three people in my household. You see, this will be the first version available on Play Station 4 (PS4) and for those of you still living in the dark ages, so many of us converted over to the PS4 hardware some two years ago only to find that the older PS3 games would not run on the new platform. And worse, so many of our favourite games were not in PS4 format.

There’s now a video of Jeremy Clarkson on James May’s “Unemployment Tube”, a Youtube channel he started when his contract with Top Gear was coming to an end, and the video has now become somewhat of a viral phenomenon. It has nothing to do with cars and simply shows Jeremy taking a long time to assemble a shipping box from DHL, one of the sponsors of their new show, The Grand Tour (we’re a little disappointed that it’s not called Gear Knobs).
Just this week, a report carried by most of the world’s press quoted Elon Musk, the founder of various things including Tesla and Space X, as suggesting that the Earth is just a simulation from some alien’s video game. Of course this has led me to surmise that he said this because he is indeed one of those aliens playing the game.
