The name Valhalla is derived from Old Norse, literally meaning “Hall of the Slain” (Valhǫll), coming from the words valr (the slain) and hǫll (hall). In Norse mythology it is a massive, majestic hall located in Asgard and ruled by the Odin.
Now, Aston Martin, has brought us its first mid-engined open-cockpit production supercar – the Valhalla Spider. No myth here.
It shares the same 1,079PS and 1,100Nm of torque from a plug-in hybrid powertrain like the Valhalla Coupe. A massive 828PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric traction motors delivers a further 251 hp. It is a monster!
The Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control (IVC) system operates without a mechanical connection between the front and rear axles. It continuously monitors and coordinates key vehicle systems, including the suspension, braking, steering, active aerodynamics and powertrain, while offering four selectable driving modes.
Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark said, “The Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).”

“Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive ‘firsts’, preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.”
Aston Martin has conjured up some clever trickery in allowing you to feel the force of the elements when driving. With the removable roof on – speed is linted to 200 km/h. Take the roof off – you get its full raw power. Top speed 350 km/h (yikes!)
Updated active aerodynamics and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) settings can detect and adjust to airflow in both roof-on and roof-off configurations, ensuring consistent vehicle balance, stability and driver confidence. The Valhalla Spider also comes standard with a newly designed carbon-fibre Touring Seat.
Engineered by Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), the Valhalla’s structure benefits from advanced composite construction techniques developed using the team’s extensive Formula 1 expertise.
