Lando Norris’s Ferrari Hits the Guardrail in Video

Just two short months ago, F1 McLaren Driver, Lando Norris, denied Ferrari second place in the Constructors championship when he won in Dubai. It would now seem that a Ferrari has exacted its revenge on him. Lando’s F40 was reported to have spun out of control and crashed into a guard rail

Lando wasn’t driving according to reports when the iconic Ferrari was filmed doing an asphalt ballet.  The video, posted by ThanosofMonaco, isn’t believed to have been driven by Lando when the iconic Ferrari had its unscheduled meeting with a guardrail.

It shows the F40 with Lando’s Monaco number plate clearly visible accelerating out of a corner, the wheels start to spin, the car veers off to the left and into oncoming traffic.  The driver attempts to counters-steer but the car is having none of it and snaps to the right and into a spin that is only stopped by the guardrail. Like I said like an asphalt ballet.

Press reports have Lando Norris in Dubai at the time of the accident so he probably was not driving the car at the time and I am guessing he will probably be more careful as to where he leaves his keys in the future as no doubt he will have to repair the damage.

Over the past few months there have been a number of F40 crashes when driven by someone who is not the owner.  At the start of January, a high profile accident occurred when a dealership service technician hit a guard rail and actually flipped the F40 whilst taking the car for a joy-ride, or was that a test drive.

I am pretty sure if I had the ownership of an F40 you would have to pry the keys out of my hands. For context, an F40 is said to fetch an average price of USD1.5 million, going as high as USD1.9 million for one in good condition.

The last F40 rolled off the production line in 1992, 33 years ago, so we’re going to assume the patch job won’t be a small sum either.
