Tech-Savvy Thieves Steal High-Security Cars

Hi-tech keyless cars that are supposed to be amongst the most secure are being stolen from driveways in the dead of the night, without the thieves even having the key. Cars that have the latest technology to protect them from the miscreants have been disappearing in increasing numbers, baffling the Police and car companies alike. But now British Police have discovered how the thieves are circumventing the security systems without getting access to the keys.

This 22-Year-Old Gives Incredible “Sight” to Driverless Cars

Toyota Research Institute and Luminar Technologies have teamed up to provide driverless technology to the masses. Silicon Valley-based startup, Luminar, makes LiDAR—Light Detection and Ranging—which are sensors that will give self-driving cars the ability to see far beyond the human eye. It is currently being used by its self-driving Lexus fleet at TRI, and will be tested across the automaker’s facilities in the U.S.

Now, we don’t usually do political stuff here at Automology but today’s headlines from President Trump’s Asia trip made me giggle more than just a little in its simplistic approach to world economics and the car industry in general. For years there has been a ballooning trade imbalance between the US of Americaland and various Asian countries. President Trump’s solution—well, it is easy, really, according to him—and I quote: “ Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask?
