Alef Aeronautics Releases Video Of Its Flying Car

The Delorean this is not…

California startup Alef Aeronautics has released “the first documented, verifiable flight of a flying car (an actual car, with vertical takeoff, non-tethered),” as CEO Jim Dukhovny wrote in a social media post.

To be clear, this isn’t the first flying car concept out there, we reported previously about the Xpeng flying car not too long ago.

The video is suspect, to say the least. As you can see at the start of the video, there appears to be a driver in the seat. The video cuts away to another angle once the car gets moving and again once the car takes flight.

With only this video, we have doubts about this flying car’s veracity. On its website, the company boldly exclaim that their car is “Designed to drive on the street, take off vertically when needed and fly overhead above traffic, we’re building the solution to the issues of modern congestion.”

The website is also taking pre-orders and for a low price of USD150, you can queue this definitely real car.

Even more surprising is that the car is expected to cost only USD299,999. Imagine that, with the price of a Rolls Royce, you could be flying above traffic.

While we’re not here to give advice to anyone about what car to purchase, we’d suggest giving this a lot of extra thought before you pre-order.
