Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica – a V10, Rear-Wheel-Drive 640HP Raging Bull

Automobili Lamborghini has just revealed its latest rear-wheel-drive 5.2-litre V10 machine to rival the Porsche 911 GT3 coupe. Lamborghini cars look like jet fighters on the road and the new looks of the Huracán Tecnica take it to another level while offering a host of technological features.

One of which is the LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) system and specific driving mode calibration for versatility in everyday and track-driving as well as rear-wheel steering (RWS), suspension, torque vectoring and traction control systems.

“The Huracán Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Huracán, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the track itself,” says Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann.

It takes its engine from the Huracán STO and has an improved brake cooling system and revised exhaust for enhanced engine sound. While the Huracán STO is a full-on track weapon, the Tecnica is slightly more ‘docile’ to suit both road and track driving. The Huracán Tecnica weighs only 1,379kg, only heavier than the STO by 40kg, so that’s a power-to-weight ratio of 2.15kg/CV. Paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, maximum speed is at 325km/h and 0-100km/h is done in a blistering 3.2 seconds. Enhancements have improved rear downforce by 35% and reduced drag by 20%.

“The Tecnica ensures that the pilot enjoys the strongest connection to the car and asphalt, with the car’s potential always at his fingertips for ease of use in every driving mode and environment: in an era of virtual experiences it pays homage to technical purity and physical sensation,” added Winkelmann.

Inside, creature comforts that have been omitted by the STO are proudly displayed with touchscreen infotainment system and height-adjustable sports seats. Wheels are 20-inch Damiso diamond cut with Bridgestone Potenza tyres.

These are the driving modes:

• STRADA: Rear-wheel steering provides stability and manoeuvrability, working with torque vectoring.
• SPORT: Rear-wheel steering allows oversteer and the enhanced slip threshold of P-TCS.
• CORSA: Track throttle response, maximum grip with help from the torque vectoring, P-TCS

In terms of safety, the Tecnica is equipped with driver airbag, passenger airbag and knee airbag as well as front and rear side airbags. ABS and EBD are standard plus you get a rear-view camera, parking sensors, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Electronic Stability Control.

Price is yet to be announced but is rumoured to be between USD472,000 – USD498,000. Ready for a raging bull in your garage?
