The Ultimate Porsche Experience: Singapore’s New Track vs. Our Beloved Sepang

Car enthusiasts, start your engines! Porsche Asia Pacific has officially announced the upcoming Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) Singapore. Set to open its doors in April 2027 near Changi Airport, this marks the brand’s 11th global facility and its very first permanent handling track in Singapore.
For a starting price of S$300 (around US$235), anyone can live out their racing dreams without actually owning the car. The facility boasts a 2km circuit with 18 corners and a main straight where you can push iconic models like the 911 GT3 or the all-electric Taycan Turbo GT up to speeds of 200kmh. The coolest part? A world-first “track drive-through” where the circuit literally cuts directly through the main building. Add a steep banked curve hitting 1.4G forces, a drift circle, and simulator labs, and you have a petrolhead’s paradise.
Reading this, you might initially find yourself asking: Why don’t we have a dedicated manufacturer experience centre like this in Malaysia?
But then, reality clicks. Oh yes, we have something even bigger, the Sepang International Circuit!
While Singapore’s new PEC offers a highly specialized, boutique handling course tailored for brand experience, Malaysia boasts a legendary, full-scale FIA Grade 1 Formula 1 track. Sepang’s massive 5.54km layout allows drivers to truly stretch the legs of any high-performance vehicle through sweeping, high-speed corners and massive straights that dwarf a 2km handling circuit.
Ultimately, both experiences offer something unique for Southeast Asian car lovers. Singapore’s PEC delivers a curated, accessible day out for families and enthusiasts alike, complete with dining, exhibitions, and tight, technical coaching. Meanwhile, Sepang remains our home for raw, unadulterated motorsport scale.
Reservations for the Singapore circuit open in April 2027. It is definitely worth the trip across the causeway for a weekend drive, but we can rest easy knowing our own backyard still holds one of the best racing circuits in the world.
Would you cross the border to try out Singapore’s tight technical track, or are you sticking to the high-speed thrill of Sepang? Let me know your favorite track layout or which Porsche model you would choose to test drive first!
